The Public Debate
An intense public debate has emerged. Last April, following up on a letter to Town Topics some months earlier by two Princeton scholars, a group of five distinguished American historians ran an ad in Town Topics, “Historians in Defense of Historic Princeton,” explaining their opposition to overdevelopment in Princeton and the Stockton Street project in particular. There is now a lively, at times heated discussion appearing regularly in Town Topics and, to a lesser extent, on the websites Planet Princeton and TAPinto Princeton, reflecting the intense public interest in this matter. Read the statement and letters.
Affirming that interest, in support of the historians’ statement and similar objections to the project, more than 200 DEFEND HISTORIC PRINCETON lawn signs have blossomed all over town, with more appearing daily.
